Large PDFs are the everyday friction of digital work. Email servers reject them, web forms time out, and they eat into the free storage of every cloud service. The honest fix is to shrink them — but most compression sites do so by uploading your whole document to a remote server first.
PDFSamurai compresses inside your browser. We re-encode the document with pdf-lib's object stream packing, strip unreferenced objects, and offer the result as a download. For text-heavy reports, expect 20–40% size reduction without any visible loss. For image-heavy files, results vary with the originating source.
Compression levels
- Light — safe re-pack. Best for PDFs you will edit further.
- Balanced — default. Strips unused objects and tightens streams.
- Maximum — most aggressive object pruning. Still lossless, but slowest.
