Legal

Acceptable Use Policy.

Last updated · 3 November 2025

This policy defines what you may and may not do when using PDFSamurai. It forms part of our Terms & Conditions. Breaching this policy may result in being blocked from the Service and, where appropriate, reported to law-enforcement authorities.

1. You may use the Service to:

  • Process PDFs that you own, that you have permission to process, or that are made available under a licence permitting processing.
  • Combine, split, compress, convert, rotate, encrypt and decrypt PDFs for personal, educational, business and commercial purposes.
  • Build workflows around the Service, provided you do not abuse our infrastructure or misrepresent the Service as your own.

2. You may not use the Service to:

  • Process files you do not have the legal right to process — including copyrighted material you do not own and have not licensed.
  • Process content that is unlawful in your jurisdiction, including (but not limited to) child sexual abuse material, content inciting terrorism or violence, or content distributed in violation of court order.
  • Remove digital rights management (DRM) from copyrighted works.
  • Bypass password protection on documents you are not authorised to access. Our “unlock” tool exists only for documents whose password you yourself set or were given.
  • Attempt to disable, attack, deface, or otherwise interfere with the Service, with the infrastructure on which it runs, or with other users' access to it.
  • Scrape, mirror, frame, or otherwise systematically copy the Service for redistribution.
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service except in good faith and with prior written authorisation from us.
  • Use the Service to send spam, phishing material, or malware, including by embedding such material in PDFs you process here.

3. Automated access

Light, well-behaved automated use of the public pages is permitted. Sustained heavy automated use — for example, running the in-page tools through headless browsers at scale — may violate this policy and degrade the Service for others. Contact us if you have a legitimate need for higher-volume access.

4. Reporting abuse

If you believe someone is using the Service in violation of this policy, contact us at legal@pdfsamurai.co.uk with as much detail as you can provide.

5. Enforcement

We may, at our sole discretion, block IP addresses, remove content from the Service that we host, and cooperate with lawful authorities to investigate abuse. Because the contents of files processed in the tools never reach our servers, our enforcement options are necessarily limited to the publicly accessible parts of the Service.

6. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance.
